Creeping Centralisation in India Since 1950

Abstract

This research critically analyses the phenomenon of creeping centralization in the federal setup of India since the year 1950. This issue is central to the development of federalism in India because of the persisting state of centralization versus state autonomy, particularly with regard to legislative and policy measures taken on matters of governance, education, and economic development. This research utilizes the method of doctrinal study because of its need to analyse the trends of centralization and decentralization based on the amendments of the constitution of India and the various judgments that have emerged over the years with respect to federal issues. Other methods used include the study of the different themes on federal issues. These critical analyses may encompass the issue of dominance and the changes occurring at the university administration levels. This research issue bears significance because of the implications that the centralization tendencies may have regarding the development of a morally pristine democracy with cooperative federalism that might enable integral handling of development with diversity at the federal levels of administration of India.
