Lately, India, which is a mosaic of different communities, has been witnessing various intercultural conflicts in physical as well as digital space. The emerging discussions on interculturalism have positioned it as a policy framework sharing one foundational idea that cross-cultural dialogue matters. This paper views intercultural communication with the lens of social constructivism and considers intercultural sensitivity as the basis for exercising proficient intercultural communication. Intercultural communication fosters relations among diverse groups that support interaction among people from different cultures in recognition and respect of cultural differences. It seeks the goal of biculturalism rather than the simple assimilation of different cultural groups to avoid social fissures in alignment with majoritarian norms. Hence, this paper will try to outline first the historical, socio-political, and economic reason for intercultural conflicts in India. Second, it will review various statutes and legal provisions that govern intercultural communication and conflicts. Third, it will compare India's intercultural policy framework with those of Canada and Australia as Canada and Australia are globally celebrated for their multi-cultural policy. Fourthly, this paper will discuss how artificial intelligence can foster intercultural communication and collaboration in the digital age. This paper advocates for a comprehensive intercultural policy in India, incorporating policy considerations that align with the fundamental objectives of the Indian Constitution, which encompass justice, equality, and liberty for all citizens, as well as the promotion of fraternity among them. This paper is based on secondary literature. A review of academic writings, newspapers, and various policy documents will be undertaken.
