Welcome to the International Journal of Law, Culture & Society (IJLCS) — a peer-reviewed, open-access law journal with ISSN 3139-1974, committed to fostering rigorous, critical, and interdisciplinary legal scholarship. IJLCS is an international law journal that recognises law not merely as a system of rules, but as a dynamic force shaped by culture, power, history, technology, and social realities. We are currently issuing a Call for Papers for Volume II, Issue III (April–June 2026) and welcome submissions from scholars worldwide.
IJLCS is an ideal platform for researchers seeking to publish legal research papers in areas including constitutional law, criminal justice, human rights law, technology and AI regulation, environmental law, intellectual property law, international arbitration, data protection law, family law, and comparative law. Whether you are submitting a full-length research article, a case note, or a critical commentary, IJLCS provides a credible, double-blind peer review process that upholds the highest standards of scholarly excellence.
We particularly welcome submissions addressing AI and law, digital rights, cybercrime, platform liability, data privacy under the DPDPA, uniform civil code, UAPA, POCSO, criminal procedure reforms under BNSS, and emerging areas of technology law. IJLCS encourages socio-legal research, doctrinal analysis, empirical legal studies, feminist jurisprudence, post-colonial legal theory, and restorative justice scholarship. Our interdisciplinary law journal bridges theoretical reflection with real-world policy relevance.
IJLCS is an open-access legal publication — all published articles are freely available worldwide under a CC BY 4.0 licence, with no subscription barriers. Submission is free; Article Processing Charges (APC) apply only upon acceptance. This makes IJLCS one of the most accessible free law journals in India for LLB students, LLM students, PhD scholars, and early-career researchers looking to publish their first law paper. We use Bluebook (21st edition) citation format and require a maximum 15% similarity index.
Our call for papers is open to academics, legal practitioners, doctoral scholars, and researchers from India, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Africa, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and across the Global South. We also welcome submissions on refugee law, climate change litigation, restorative justice, judicial review, digital economy regulation, sedition law, platform accountability, and online hate speech law. IJLCS is committed to amplifying diverse legal voices and perspectives.
As an International law journal launched in 2025 with an ISSN, IJLCS is actively pursuing indexing in Google Scholar, DOAJ, ROAD, Crossref (DOI), SSRN, ResearchGate, WorldCat, and HeinOnline. Authors who publish with us receive a certificate of publication, DOI assignment, and global visibility through open-access distribution. The International Journal of Law, Culture & Society (IJLCS) is an independent academic journal founded by alumni and students of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), with a shared commitment to advancing rigorous and socially grounded legal scholarship. Dedicated to fostering critical engagement with the complex relationship between law and social realities, IJLCS proceeds from the understanding that law does not exist in isolation, but is deeply embedded within the cultural, historical, and political narratives that shape societies. Through an international editorial network and a robust peer-review process, IJLCS provides a credible platform for global scholarly exchange and the dissemination of high-impact research. The journal seeks to advance comparative, analytical, and empirical inquiries into how legal systems respond to the shifting contours of society, addressing pressing concerns such as human rights and governance, environmental justice, technological change, and digital regulation. By encouraging interdisciplinary and context-sensitive approaches, IJLCS aims to contribute to informed academic debate and policy-relevant discourse at both national and international levels.
The copyright in all published works shall remain vested with the respective author(s) . However, upon acceptance and publication of the manuscript, the author(s) shall be deemed to have granted IJLCS the exclusive right of first publication together with a non-exclusive, irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual licence to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, communicate, display, and make the work publicly accessible in all forms, formats, and media, whether existing presently or developed subsequently.
The author(s) further authorise IJLCS to identify itself as the original publisher of the work and to include, reproduce, index, store, and disseminate the published manuscript through indexing services, repositories, databases, digital archives, academic platforms, and other lawful dissemination mechanisms for academic, institutional, promotional, archival, and research purposes.
Unless otherwise expressly stated, all articles published in IJLCS shall be made available under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0). Subject to the conditions prescribed under the said licence, any user shall be permitted to read, access, download, copy, distribute, print, share, reproduce, adapt, transmit, and build upon the published material in any medium or format, provided that appropriate attribution is accorded to the author(s) and IJLCS as the original publisher, a reference to the applicable licence is furnished, and any modifications or adaptations made to the original work are clearly indicated.
Nothing contained in the aforesaid licence shall be construed as permitting misleading attribution, unauthorised commercial misrepresentation, misuse of the journal’s name, logo, insignia, or institutional identity, or any form of republication, reproduction, dissemination, or adaptation that may prejudice the academic reputation, credibility, integrity, or interests of IJLCS.
By submitting a manuscript to IJLCS, the author(s) expressly represent, warrant, and undertake that the manuscript constitutes original scholarly work and has neither been previously published nor simultaneously submitted for consideration before any other journal, publisher, or platform. The author(s) further warrant that the submitted work does not infringe upon any copyright, trademark, proprietary, contractual, or other legal rights of any third party and that all requisite permissions concerning copyrighted materials, illustrations, tables, figures, datasets, photographs, or other protected content incorporated within the manuscript have been duly obtained by the author(s).
The author(s) shall remain solely and exclusively liable for any claims, proceedings, disputes, liabilities, or damages arising out of plagiarism, copyright infringement, defamation, fabrication, falsification, factual inaccuracies, or any violation of applicable laws in relation to the submitted or published work.
Authors shall be permitted to deposit the submitted version, accepted manuscript version, and published version of their work in institutional repositories, personal websites, SSRN, academic networking platforms, and other non-commercial repositories, subject to the condition that complete and accurate citation to the original publication in IJLCS is clearly acknowledged.
Once a manuscript has been accepted and published, withdrawal thereof shall ordinarily not be permitted except upon the existence of valid legal, ethical, or procedural grounds as may be determined by the Editorial Board. Any subsequent reproduction, translation, republication, or dissemination of the published work shall appropriately acknowledge IJLCS as the original and first publisher of the work.
IJLCS reserves the unrestricted right to preserve, archive, store, and maintain all published content permanently through digital repositories, indexing databases, archival systems, and other preservation platforms to ensure long-term academic accessibility, discoverability, and scholarly preservation.
